Our history begins in 1871 when Schloss and Kahn opened their first dry goods distribution location in downtown Montgomery. In the ensuing decades Schloss and Kahn grew from small dry goods purveyors to leading foodservice innovators by the mid 1950’s. Along this journey of growth and expansion the Sunday Dinner Brand was introduced and evolved into a main stay of Brand recognition in the State of Alabama. In 1965 Schloss & Kahn moved to their final location on the south side of Montgomery adjacent to Highway 80, close to the airport. Ultimately Schloss and Kahn was acquired first by PYA Monarch and subsequently by US Foods who today owns and operates the Distribution Center on Highway 80.
In 1981 Schloss and Kahn opened their first retail store named Sunday Dinner, where demand for the Sunday Dinner Brand could be made available to the public. The store was moved to its present Atlanta Highway location in 1990, retaining its Sunday Dinner name.
In 2019 we change our name to US Foods Market Store which reflects our true identity and ownership.
The store offers over 2,600 stock items featuring our exclusive Brands of Monarch, Glenview Farms and Monogram amongst many others, brands that are widely recognized and accepted in foodservice. In addition, the store stocks a wide assortment of kitchenware items and accessories including basics like pots and pans. For the baker in the family the store stocks a wide variety of bakery supplies including sheet pans, boxes and cupcake containers. And for the family reunion or party you will find an extended assortment of paper goods, plasticware, and foam/paper cups. The store also carries a wide assortment of cleaning chemicals and supplies. If the store does not stock what you need see the Manager, Jerry Beers, about ordering it for you. Jerry has access to the full inventory of our US Foods Distribution Center.
Products are available in full cases or partial cases. Whether you are a retail customer, a restaurant or convenience store, a hotel or hospital, civic organization, or church, we can fulfill your foodservice needs.
